The Irish Wine Board are running another series of fine wine tasting in September.

1. Rosé Champagne. Friday, September 5th

The producers of champagne have never had it so good. It’s official. There isn’t enough of the wonderful stuff to go around, and in particular, the pink or rosé style is most in demand and the price is rocketing! This is a rare opportunity to taste a range of quality rosé Champagnes and nothing but.

2. Northern Italy. Friday, September 12th

Italy produces great wines throughout its length but many of the more established are from its north. It is here that the native Italian grape varieties still call the shots. At this tasting, we’ll be tasting from among the elite wines from the north such as; Barolo, Barbaresco, Amarone and even Pieropan’s La Rocca.

3. New World Classics. Friday, September 19th

Although a late comer to the business of making wine, the New World has established a range of wine styles which had never existed previously. We will taste many of the top wines from vineyards in areas such as Barossa Valley, Stellenbosch, California, Mendoza and New Zealand and sampling offerings from legendary producers such as Cloudy Bay, Henschke and Catena Zapata. In short, the best that the New World has to offer!

4. Bordeaux—The 1855 Classification. Friday, September 26th

In 1855, the top 61 wines of the Bordeaux region were classified into what has become the most important and famous league table in the wine world. Do these wine chateaux still deserve the reputation that has placed them ‘a breed apart’ from the rest of Bordeaux? You’ll have the opportunity to answer this question for yourself after tasting a selection of these top wines.

5. Central and Southern Italy. Friday, October 3rd

Some of the greatest wines Italy produce come from regions apart from Tuscany and Piedmont. The South has undergone a ‘wine revolution’ over the last 20 years. At this tasting we’ll be sampling some of the best from regions such as the Marche, Campania, Basilicata, Puglia and Sicily.
