Fair Dues to Hakan and Enowine! They are doing their best to try to maximize the potential of their wine tasting machines.
It’s a real pity that the IFSC tends to die a death after 6pm on a weekday and all of the weekends. If they were situated in a better area I imagine this would be a very popular event. I hope that it turns out well for them anyway though!
Hi Will,
I imagine this will change once the Point, the Luas and Spencer Dock works are finished.
Mitchell & Sons are moving to the CHQ too, so it will be getting busy!

Looks like a very good idea to me. I’m not sure what to think about that little bit of distance from the centre. Too central might mean just too busy - there is such a thing, but I agree the IFSC (as I recall) isn’t the perfect spot.
That is a great idea…apart from the location. Julian….ever thought of introducing the tasting machines here in Cork??? I would come even more often ;-)
Lar, for how long will enowine do these Fridays?
Hello Elke, I hope all’s well. I wish I had time to comment more widely.
In answer to your question, you never know. It’s a big investment, or a big gamble - but no one else in Cork has that machine at the moment, it’s true, and I do think sales could be improved by offering sample tastes. Hmmm.
There’s a great article in the FT here: https://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/3c0f1958-684c-11dd-a4e5-0000779fd18c.html?nclick_check=1 about The Sampler in Islington, that has built it’s whole business model around these enomatic tasting machines.
I hope the enowine Bordeaux tasting goes well. That is a very interesting article - thanks. Food for thought.
Just to let you know that Oddbins have been running a wine quiz along the same lines as a pub quiz in the Wellington Pub. Tickets are twenty euros, comes with food and next weeks theme is France Vs Italy. Normally there is circa thirty to thirty five people. 12 wines will be tasted. Not sure how many tickets are left. Prizes, yes there will be. I am working in Oddbins by the way but nonetheless I thought it might be worth dropping a line.
