Wine of the week: Ring Bolt Cabernet Sauvignon, Margaret River 2006
Posted on December 20th, 2009
Saved in Red wine, Sour Grapes recommends, €10-€15
I mentioned before that Tesco have really upped their wine game and their Ring Bolt Cabernet Sauvignon (€12.49) is a fine example of this in action. It’s from the Margaret River, an area in Western Australia renowned for its wine and Cabernet Sauvignon in particular.
How it tastes
It’s full flavoured, big with plenty of blackcurrant and plummy flavours. There’s a bit of oak in there too, but it’s very restrained and ends with a lovely smooth, silky finish.
If you’re looking for a fancy-pants taste descriptor, here’s what they say over on wine.com,
The Ringbolt Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon is bright crimson red with a lovely depth. The nose is quite fine and intense showing berries and Satsuma plum with a fragrant spiciness from deft use of French oak during maturation. The wine is medium bodied with fine velvety tannins giving structure and length. There is excellent fruit on the palate with flavours of mulberries and plums giving sweetness to the middle palate, then melding with oak notes to a smooth seamless finish.
Cost
And the good news? Only €12.49 in Tesco. Stock up.
