David Hohnen, is one of the best known winemakers in Australia and New Zealand (there’s a great interview with him over at Jamie Goode’s website)

He founded Margaret River’s Cape Mentelle and equally well known for introducing the world to premium New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc with Cloudy Bay.

He’s back in Margaret River along with his daughter, her partner and the McHenry chap for his latest project, McHenry Hohnen Vineyard.

Where and when?

David is visiting Ireland this week to host an exclusive wine pairing dinner at Alex Restaurant, Conrad Dublin, Earlsfort Terrace.

This public event, will take place on Wednesday, 12th October at 7pm.

What’s on offer?

A five-course wine pairing dinner, during which David will chat to guests and explain his choices for pairing.

The food and wine pairings will include:

  • A starter of crab meat with McHenry Hohnen Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc, Margaret River 2010;
  • Honey & cumin glazed loin of venison with seared fois gras with McHenry Hohnen 3 Amigos Shiraz/Grenache, Margaret River 2007.
  • Dessert will consist of roasted Irish autumn fruit on toasted brioche and teamed with Malbec Dulce Natural 2009.
