Fine Wine Tastings at the Irish Wine Board
Maybe it’s the wine equivalent of a lap dance, taste some of the best wines out there, but only enough to make you horny for more but without the opportunity to follow through. However, I went to one of these back in November (Burgundy Reds) and was blown away.
Here’s the blurb…
The Wine Board is delighted to offer an opportunity to taste many of the famous wines from the wine world, the wines that often are the exclusive property of the very rich. All wines will be presented by Nigel Donnan, who has been lecturing for The Wine Board for the past ten years.
Here’s the details…
Friday 7pm, February 8th, 2008 Red Burgundy
A series of red wines selected from among the best and most famous villages of Burgundy, considered by many to be France’s best wine region, including Gevrey Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Beaune and Volnay.
Cost: €65 per person
Friday 7pm, February 15th, 2008 Chateauneuf du Pape
An examination of the Rhone Valley’s most famous appellation. Many of the best wines from the best vintages (stretching back over the last ten years) will be enjoyed including: Chateau de Beaucastel, Domaine de Marcoux and Clos des Papes.

Friday 7pm, February 22nd, 2008 Italy—Tuscany, Piedmont and The Veneto

Lar,
Thanks for that, it’s a great heads up! I may try and head along to some of these tastings.
Do you think we have any chance of getting to head along to any of the trade tastings (limited to press & trade) as a result of trying to qualify as press due to being wine bloggers?
Will
Hi Will,
I’m looking for an angle on that too, let you know how I get on.
